PEDAGOGY

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”                    – Aristotle

Pre-Primary School

Nursery and Kindergarten, are play-based, recognizing the students’ multiple intelligences and encouraging creative thinking. A day in the life of a Pre-Primary student involves much free play, both indoors and outdoors, as well as a structured timetable involving numeracy and literacy classes. Indoor free play is based around a series of activities such as dramatic play, sensorial learning and an art and discovery hour among other activities.

Primary School

During Primary School, which covers a period of five years (ranging from grades I to V), children’s basic skills in all subjects are enhanced. Additionally, students are introduced to higher-level thinking and application-based problem sets that stimulate the development of their critical and analytical skills. The Primary School curriculum focuses on the spirit of exploration and acquiring sound language skills, clarity of mathematical concepts through data collection and interpretation, and understanding of scientific phenomena via observation, experimentation and inference. Learning is enriched by a number of extracurricular activities such as drama, storytelling, poetry, music, modules, discussions and a wide range of artistic activities.

Middle School

In the Middle School years – grades six to grade eight- the students will learn how to think in an abstract manner, and furnish their cognitive skills by gaining a deeper understanding of important concepts. Middle school students also have access to the school laboratories, allowing them to gain experiential knowledge. Since these years are integral for the social development of the children, students are taught to accept personal responsibility for actions, decisions and outcomes. Students’ classroom and laboratory work is supplemented with educational trips, which make learning more exciting.

Senior School

The Senior School comprises of Grades IX to XII, and follows the state board syllabus. Here too the endeavour will be to make learning more student–centric and interesting. Therefore, there will be focus on projects and presentations based on group activities, which inculcate the value of teamwork in the children.

At this level, some of the approaches adopted would include inquiry-based learning to motivate students to reflect and research widely and appreciate a curriculum that follows an interdisciplinary approach.

THE GLOBAL SCHOOL would follow an assessment system, which is a school – based evaluation of a student and covers all aspects of a student’s development. It means regularity of assessment, frequency of unit testing, diagnosis of learning gaps, use of corrective measures, retesting and feedback of evidence by teachers to students for their self- evaluation.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

The co-curricular opportunities TGS provides make for a more motivated and engaged group of students, which leads to a happier and more cohesive school.

We expect our students to be involved in co-curricular activities and offer a diverse range of opportunities with sports, arts and other avenues to choose from. Students who consistently participate and excel in co-curricular activities are motivated to work harder as they receive recognition in regular assemblies.

PERFORMING ARTS AND VISUAL ARTS

Blending culture and passion across a diverse, creative landscape, TGS School is home to a vibrant and dedicated community, which celebrates and practices art in the form of public speaking, visual arts, music, dance and theatre.

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES

TGS realizes that some of the most important learning and growth opportunities take place outside the classroom, keeping this in mind the school offers a variety of organizations and clubs. These clubs provide students with an opportunity to pursue their interests and explore their talents. Additionally, these clubs facilitate the development of the children’s decision-making skills as they choose which activity they would like to pursue.

List of clubs includes- Heritage club, literary club, health and physical wellness club, Environment conservation club, Legal literacy club, Art and Aesthetic club,  etc.

SPORTS

TGS takes pride in providing the best-in-class sports facilities like a Hockey, Kabaddi, KHO KHO, Handball, Shot put, Indoor Sports Arena for Wrestling, carrom boards, chess boards etc. For the younger students, we have created a play area with a play station comprising Swings, See Saw, Slides, Jumping Trampoline which will motivate them to come to school every day with excitement and joy in their hearts.

BEYOND CLASSROOMS

SCHOOL TRIPS

We at TGS believe that learning is incomplete without the experiential component. Keeping this in mind, The Global School organizes school trips for all classes. These trips are organized to provide students with exposure to diverse environments as well as allow them to experience a practical representation of their theoretical learning. These visits include educational trips, community and outreach trips and subject-based trips to support the curriculum.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

In accordance with its motto of “Service before Self” we at The Global School take great initiative in serving our community.  We will involve the children from the primary years to sensitize them to the underprivileged in society. Some of the proposed activities will include working with various NGOs to help the underprivileged, collection drives such as blankets, books, clothes, perishables (food items) to help the needy during times of natural disasters. This form of service learning helps students become more socially aware, responsible citizens. Additionally, it also provides them with a sense of purpose for their education.
